5 Factors Affecting The Filtration Time Of Chamber Filter Press

The factors affecting the filtration time of a chamber filter press include five factors: material concentration, material particle size, material viscosity, feed pump, and filter cloth. Chamber filter presses are suitable for all solid-liquid separation industries. The advantages of chamber filter presses include low feed loss, fast filtration speed, resistance to high temperature and pressure, good sealing performance, uniform filter cake washing, and low moisture content.

5 factors affecting the filtration time of the chamber filter press

1. Material Concentration

The flow rate of the feed pump refers to the flow rate of clean water. Therefore, the higher the material concentration, the greater the impact on the feed pump. A slow flow rate also indicates a relatively lower filtration speed.

2. Material particle size

A high particle size distribution in the feed slurry results in a relatively large surface area. This leads to a relatively lower flow rate from the feed pump, consequently reducing the filtration speed. An elastic membrane is added between the filter cloth and the filter press. During operation, after feeding, high-pressure fluid or gas can be injected into the diaphragm plate. The entire diaphragm then compresses the filter cake, further dewatering it – this is commonly known as press filtration. The flow rate and head of the feed pump directly affect the filtration time of the chamber filter press.

3. Material viscosity

Separation of viscous materials is relatively difficult. Poor material flowability directly affects filtration speed. During chamber filter press operation, high-pressure fluids or gases can be injected into the diaphragm plates.

4. Feed pump

The filtration power of a chamber filter press comes from the feed pump. Using a special filter medium, pressure is applied to the material, causing the liquid to permeate out. It is widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, metallurgical, food, and brewing industries.

5. Filter cloth selection

Filter cloth, as a type of filtration medium, is suitable for various materials. While a denser mesh count generally results in higher filtration accuracy, the corresponding filtration speed will also be slower. Different industries have different requirements for the filtrate, so the specific choice should be based on your specific needs.
