Filter cloths for filter presses include polyester filter cloth, polypropylene filter cloth, nylon filter cloth, and vinylon filter cloth. The following explains how to correctly install the filter cloth onto the filter plates of the filter press.

The function of the filter cloth in a filter press is to allow the filtrate fed into the filter press to come into contact with the filtrate through the designed filtration structure. Due to the pressure difference between the two sides of the filter plate, the liquid in the natural mixture passes through the filter cloth, while the solid is trapped in the filter cloth, thus achieving solid-liquid separation.

1. The areas where the filter cloth contacts the filter plate should be flat and free of wrinkles. Avoid squeezing the filter cloth by the filter plate, which could cause damage or slurry leakage.

2. Avoid excessively long buckles, which may extend into the pressed part of the filter plate and damage the filter cloth, or cause mud leakage.

3. During installation, ensure there are no foreign objects or large sludge particles between the filter cloth and the filter plate. Large sludge particles or foreign objects may damage the filter plate or filter cloth during assembly.

4. When installing the filter cloth, pay attention to the front and back sides. The cloth side of the filter cloth should face the mud. Incorrect installation will cause the filter cloth to become clogged, resulting in low filtration efficiency.

5. Spare filter cloths should be stored in a cool, dry place. It is recommended to protect them with dark-colored shade cloth to avoid ultraviolet radiation and prevent aging of the filter cloth material.

6. Before installing the filter cloth, a filter cloth support needs to be installed first. Its purpose is to minimize the wear and tear on the filter cloth surface protrusions caused by the filter cake rapidly detaching downwards due to gravity during sludge discharge, thus protecting the filter cloth, extending its service life, and improving the filtration effect.
